As Director of Safeguarding, you will provide strategic leadership, oversight and advice regarding the management of Safeguarding at an enterprise level for EREA Colleges. You will manage Child Safety and Safeguarding matters within the EREA Colleges, and work collaboratively with schools to ensure a culture of safeguarding, student protection, respectful relationships and student wellbeing.  A hybrid working model is available. Location is preferably at our Brisbane office, but the location is flexible and will be negotiated with the successful candidate. Some travel to Queensland and other states/territories will be required, depending on the location of the successful candidate. The key responsibilities include:Providing strategic leadership and oversight in terms of the EREA Colleges Child Safety and Safeguarding culture, framework, policies, procedures, programs, education, training and other related guidanceMaintaining a leading-edge approach to Safeguarding and Safeguarding culture within schoolsStaying up to date with relevant national and state legislation, regulations, policies and ensuring EREA College’s procedures, policies and frameworks are alignedMaintaining a best-practice approach to incident managementWorking collaboratively with EREA Colleges schools to enhance and maintain cultures of continuous improvement with respect to issues of Safeguarding, respectful relationships and student wellbeingBuilding Safeguarding knowledge and capability, providing sound advice and direction on Safeguarding initiatives across EREA CollegesProviding Safeguarding training to support the embedment of the EREA Colleges Safeguarding policy suiteDeveloping compliance, assurance, diagnostic, and advisory reports to relevant stakeholder groupsLeading the analysis of EREA Colleges schools’ compliance to the EREA Colleges Safeguarding requirements and their achievement of an active child-safe cultureInforming the Director & CEO of EREA Colleges Ltd of reportable conduct allegationsInforming and liaising with the EREA Ltd Professional Standards Officer for historical allegations of abuse and reportable conduct mattersLiaising and engaging with insurance and legal representatives as requiredCollaborating in a ‘community of practice’ for Safeguarding staff at EREA Colleges Ltd, EREA NSW Ltd, EREA Victorian Schools and EREA Flexible Schools LtdSetting performance plans and performing regular performance reviews with all direct reportsAttending key briefings, workshops, seminars, conferences and other networking opportunities on Safeguarding, the Royal Commission recommendations, ACSL Audits, redress and other associated topics ABOUT YOU:To succeed in the role you will have:Appropriate qualifications in Safeguarding, Education, Law, Social or Behavioural Science or equivalentProven senior leadership experience, both strategic and practical, characterised by strong analytical, managerial, communication and leadership skillsSignificant experience in and understanding of Safeguarding and child protection and safety legislation and accountabilities arising after the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual AbuseAbility to demonstrate a high level of skill in policy development and processes in regard to Safeguarding and child safety protocols and legislative requirementsAbility to demonstrate the high-level communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to be successful in a complex and layered organisational structureDemonstrated capacity to be an influential and authoritative thought leader and change agent in Safeguarding and a capacity to influence and lead the enhancement of Safeguarding culturesA commitment to the ongoing and proactive protection and Safeguarding of children, young people and enrolled adults and to building cultures of continuous improvement in school environmentsUnderstanding of and commitment to the mission of Catholic schools in the Edmund Rice tradition Please see the Position Description for further details about the role.  WHAT WE OFFER:Our people are our most valuable asset in providing a quality Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition to the young people in our schools.
